  • For downhill skiing : On-piste skis need to be agile, responsive and able to make turns. It is advisable to choose skis that are 10 cm smaller than the recommended size.

  • For freestyle skiing : Freestyle skis are designed in Twin Tip mode, which means they have a reduced contact area with the snow. To ensure stability and agility, it is advisable to choose a ski of your size.

  • For touring skiing It's best to choose a ski of your size.

  • For freeride skiing : Freeride skis need to offer stability at high speeds and float in powder. It is recommended that you select A ski of your size, up to 10 cm more.

Why choose a longer ski?

  • Your level of skiing experience is advanced/expert
  • You like to ski fast and appreciate stability at high speeds
  • You like to ski aggressively
  • You're looking for better flotation
  • You are heavier than average for your height
  • You think your current skis are too short
  • You ski on terrain with a lot of space

Why choose a shorter ski?

  • You are a beginner in alpine skiing
  • You prefer agility over flotation
  • You ski slower / want to initiate turns at low speeds
  • You don't ski aggressively
  • You're lighter than average for your size
  • You think your current skis are too long
  • You ski on narrow terrain

With its poppy, agile nature the Explo 96 is a standout choice for backcountry enthusiasts. This versatile ski excels in a variety of terrains, from packed snow to powder, delivering optimal grip and stability.

The Explo 96 incorporates "3P camber," featuring additional camber sections both in front of and behind the binding area. This design results in a significantly robust edge grip on hard-packed snow. The ski's tip and tail rocker, along with a mount point that isn't excessively rearward and a dynamic flex pattern, collectively contribute to making this ski playful and maneuverable when skiing off-piste.

Its moderately light construction is a practical choice for those who prioritize a lighter setup while ascending slopes. This ski maintains stability and power, ensuring a confident and controlled descent.

"The Explo 96 is the slightly more firm-snow-focused counterpart to their Pionnier 104, but both are quite versatile. The Explo 96’s “3P camber” features added camber sections fore and aft of the binding area, which translate to notably strong edge grip on firm snow. On the other hand, the Explo 96 still has some tip and tail rocker, and combined with its not-super-rearward mount point and lively flex pattern, that makes it feel fairly playful and maneuverable off piste. The Explo 96 manages to cover a lot of bases quite well, and with its light-but-not-super-light construction, it’s a viable option for both uphill travel and resort laps for those who prioritize quickness over high-speed stability."

Complete your kit :

Poplar core: Poplar cores are sourced from sustainable forests, less than 100 km from the factory. The environmentally-friendly harvesting involves selective cutting to enhance forest regeneration, resulting in lightweight and durable skis.

Titanal plate: The titanal plate is designed to withstand challenging conditions, providing added stiffness under the boot for improved grip and stability on firm snow, exceeding safety standards.

Carbon fibre: Perfect for high-end and touring skis, carbon fibre provides an excellent lightweight-to-stiffness ratio, ensuring lightweight ascent and solid descent performance.

Fibreglass: While fibreglass may not be as rigid as carbon fibre, it possesses greater strength. The strength lies in the fibre's ability to resist breaking under the weight of a load. That's why this fibre is the preferred choice when it comes to imparting strength and durability to skis.

Biosourced epoxy: Entropy Resins' Super Sap biosourced epoxy utilizes renewable materials, offering performance equivalent to traditional resins with reduced environmental impact.

Biosourced topsheet: The 50% biosourced topsheet, made from renewable materials and 20% recycled materials, is manufactured with castor oil, ensuring exceptional durability and waterproofing.

The Explo 96 strikes an ideal balance between weight and stiffness, making it a versatile choice for powder, groomed, or icy surfaces. Its carefully selected materials contribute to its suitability across various conditions. Despite its size, the ski maintains commendable torsional stiffness, providing excellent grip on firm snow. The integration of rockers further enhances its versatility, making the Explo 96 a well-rounded ski for diverse terrains.

Torsional stiffness (Nm²)How difficult it is to flex a ski

Bending stiffness (Nm²)How difficult is it to twist a ski

Carbon footprint composition: An overview

The Explo 96 has an average carbon footprint of 23.51 kgCO2eqwhich corresponds roughly to the carbon emissions produced by a small car over 124 km.

Carbon footprint composition: Materials

To improve performance on hard snow without compromising weight, the Explo incorporates two layers of carbon. While this choice contributes to its carbon footprint, it is partially offset by the use of a locally sourced poplar core from the Bas-St-Laurent region of Quebec, as well as biobased topsheet and epoxy.

Simplement WOW !

Amazing Skis

Bought the Explo for a good mix of groomers and east coast pow. Took them out west for a trip and they performed amazingly. They are the ATV of skis. Truly an all mountain as they perform just as well on the uptrack as they do on any other surface. I don't know what the secret sauce is but there is one and it works really really well.

Wow ! Mes Explo 96 !
