About the size of the skier

  • 3P camber : Engaging, maneuverable ski at low speeds - a plus for low-angle terrain.
  • Sidewall semi-cap: This construction offers the same sustainability and the same crossroads as standard or "sandwich" construction, but with lower weight and better shock resistance. Unlike other manufacturers, our semi-cap construction includes a side wall over the entire length for complete protection.
  • Tail block : The tail of our skis is designed to keep your skins in place. In addition, it can be cut for better adjustment with your skin clip. So you can venture with confidence, even in the most difficult conditions.
  • Short radius for the width : allows you to initiate fast and energetic turns (perfect for tight couloirs). Very agile and playful ski.
  • Progressive rocker

  • Flex grip: Increased torsional stiffess for grip and stability.

  • Good ratio of rigidity and flexibility

The interior of your Explo 96

The poplar cores used in Ferreol skis come from sustainable forests. This means they are cut with the greatest respect for the environment. Selective cutting is carried out to improve forest regeneration. To minimize waste, the wood is assembled and travels less than 100 km before arriving at the manufacturing plant in Rimouski. Finally, poplar makes skis lighter and more resistant.

The titanal mounting plate is designed to face the most difficult conditions. It adds isotropic stiffness under the boot, which increases grip and stability on firm snow. In addition, its superior quality makes it possible to exceed the necessary safety standards.

Our polyamide topsheet is 50% bio-based, made up of 20% recycled materials and comes from castor oil. This makes our skis extremely durable and waterproof, which guarantees the longevity of our products. In addition, the graphics are digitally printed on this material, which reduces the environmental impact of our topsheet.

Although the fiberglass is not as stiff as carbon fiber, it is stronger. Strength is the capacity of a fiber not to break under the force of a load. This is why this fiber is the ideal choice when it comes to adding strength and sustainability to skis.

Carbon fiber has the perfect mechanical properties for the construction of high-end skis. It is also well suited to hiking skis, due to its excellent weigth/stiffness ratio. Carbon makes the ski light on the climb, but solid on the descent.

We use the Super Sap epoxy of Entropy Resins in all our skis. This epoxy is bio-based, which means that the materials used for its manufacture come from renewable organic matter. In addition, this epoxy offers the same performance as traditional resins, but with a lower environmental impact.

LCA of the Explo

The Explo 96 has an average carbon footprint of 23.51 kgco2eq, which roughly corresponds to the carbon emissions produced by a small car over 124 km.

Material footprint of the Explo 96

In order to optimize its performance on firm snow while minimizing its weight, 2 carbon layers are used in the Explo. Although this increases its carbon footprint, this is partly offset by locally sourced poplar core from Bas-St-Laurent as well as the topsheet and the biosourced epoxy.

I chose the Expo96 for the ease of making short turns here at the ski resort. I measure 5'11 '' or 180 cm and I chose the 172 cm despite the recommendation of sellers and friends to use 180 cm and more.

This skiing is really agile. Hold on your squares!
When I put pressure on the skiing on a hard surface, he toune! And always turn in control! It is the opposite of my 180cm/104mm, which when I push it, wants to keep its long interminable radius (I still have to take it off).

I would like to thank you for the quality of my ski expo96 and the pleasure it gives me. Thank you also at the Ski Val St-Côme station.

Amazing Skis

Bough the Explo for a good mix of groomers and east coast power. Took them out west for a trip and they performed amazingly. They are the ATV of skis. Truly an all mountain as they perform just as well on the uptrack as they do on any other surface. I Don't Know What the Secret Sauce is but there is one and it works really really well.

WOW! My Explo 96 !

My Explo 96 are really cool skis, I am very satisfied. From the bite and stable downhill on the worked surfaces and especially in the powder, it is as surfing. As a climb, the skis are light and well balanced.

I tested my skis in Sunshine and Lac Louise, small machines.

Many people in Western Canada asked me about the origin of my skis and when I told them that they were in Quebec they were surprised! Even a Banff store asked me for information on my skis.

Congratulations Férréol!

WOW!

From the first descent with the skis, I felt comfortable. Following an almost complete season, I can confirm that skis perform well in multiple conditions. I am very satisfied with skiing in addition to being proud to hit the slopes with a Quebec product!

Happiness !

At the start it was the pride of obtaining a Quebec ski, produced by a team of enthusiasts who study at the same faculty as me formerly ... (end of 1980 ...) with ecological values, what more could you ask for? Obviously, pleasure and performance! And it's there: we have the 104 for chic shocks and the few days of powder in the station and the Explo For our regular days in the station.
