Quality. Innovation. Sustainable development.

Even before Ferreol was founded, we knew that our impact on the environment would be a key element of our business. Making high-performance skis while respecting nature was a given for us. Because nature is, above all, our playground... We unanimously refused any compromise. Our skis would be high-performance and more environmentally friendly . Two things that are too often put in opposition. We knew that our strengths in R&D and innovation would be the pillars to propel this idea towards reality. We are therefore very proud to present here the fruit of our efforts to become pioneers in the sustainable ski industry.

Sustainability

At Ferreol, we believe that a durable ski is one that stands the test of time and weather , but also one that you want to keep for a long time. This is why every manufacturing detail is designed with this in mind:

  • Semi-cap construction : a technique that combines strength and performance, for skis that remain stable and robust, season after season.

  • Local wood : our core is made of Quebec poplar , from responsibly managed forests, less than 100 km from our workshop.

  • Timeless finish : no unnecessary frills—just a clean, durable, and elegant signature that transcends fashions.

The result? Skis that really last , and avoid the waste of frequent replacements.

Reduction

Making skis requires resources. But at Ferreol, we do everything we can to reduce the environmental impact of each pair, from the choice of materials to transportation.

Here's how:

100% renewable energy

  • All of our manufacturing takes place in a factory powered exclusively by renewable energy sources.

More responsible materials

  • Our topsheets (the upper layer of the ski) are made from 50% bio-sourced materials and 20% recycled plastic.

  • Our epoxy resin is made from 30% plant-based materials (Entropy Resins).

  • Optimizing the placement of carbon fibers in the ski to eliminate waste.

  • Coming soon: replacement of the majority of our synthetic fibers with linen fiber , a natural and almost carbon-neutral material.

Assessment

Life cycle analysis:

At Ferreol, we don't just "believe" that we're more eco-responsible. We actually measure it.

To achieve this, we had our skis analyzed by a firm specializing in life cycle analysis (LCA) – a method that calculates the total environmental impact of a product, from the beginning to the end of its life.

The test: our Pioneer 104 model

Here's what we learned:

  • A pair of Pioneer 104 skis generates approximately 20.44 kg of CO₂ equivalent over its entire life cycle.

  • For comparison, this is the equivalent of 108 km in a compact car .

  • 74% of these emissions come solely from the materials used: reinforcements, plastics, glue, etc.

  • The rest comes from manufacturing, transportation and the end of the ski's life.

And that's not all: thanks to this data, we were able to offset 100% of these emissions . As a result, all our skis have been carbon neutral since 2022.

Why is this important?

LCA allows us to:

  • To better understand where the main impacts are in our production.
  • To identify levers for improvement to further reduce our footprint .
  • To offer you total transparency on the real impact of your skis.

Flax fiber

We are among the first to replace synthetic fibers (often derived from petroleum) with linen fiber , a bio-sourced and almost carbon-neutral material.

What you feel : a ski that absorbs vibrations better for // A smooth, natural and comfortable gliding sensation.
