L'Explo 86 is a versatile and agile ski, with an even greater emphasis on performance on firm snow than theExplo 96. As a narrower version of its big brother, it prioritizes edge grip and stability. It offers better handling, precision and control on varied terrain. You'll feel faster, more precise turns on groomed trails.
The ski's balanced rocker makes it well suited to navigating undergrowth and variable snow, offering a responsive and enjoyable experience.

Composition

Poplar core: Poplar cores are sourced from sustainable forests, less than 100 km from the factory. The environmentally-friendly harvesting involves selective cutting to enhance forest regeneration, resulting in lightweight and durable skis.
Titanal plate: The titanal plate is designed to withstand challenging conditions, providing added stiffness under the boot for improved grip and stability on firm snow, exceeding safety standards.
Carbon fibre: Perfect for high-end and touring skis, carbon fibre provides an excellent lightweight-to-stiffness ratio, ensuring lightweight ascent and solid descent performance.
Fibreglass: While fibreglass may not be as rigid as carbon fibre, it possesses greater strength. The strength lies in the fibre's ability to resist breaking under the weight of a load. That's why this fibre is the preferred choice when it comes to imparting strength and durability to skis.
Biosourced epoxy: Entropy Resins' Super Sap biosourced epoxy utilizes renewable materials, offering performance equivalent to traditional resins with reduced environmental impact.
Biosourced topsheet: The 50% biosourced topsheet, made from renewable materials and 20% recycled materials, is manufactured with castor oil, ensuring exceptional durability and waterproofing.
Stiffness profile
Striking a delicate balance between weight and stiffness, the Explo 86 achieves a more balanced torsional rigidity compared to the Explo 96. This balance ensures excellent grip on snow while providing an intuitive riding experience. With shorter rockers and a longer turn radius than its wider counterpart, the Explo 86 stands out as the most aggressive ski in the entire Ferreol range.

The Explo 86 has an average carbon footprint of 23.11 kgCO2eqwhich corresponds roughly to the carbon emissions produced by a small car over 122 km.

Carbon footprint composition: Materials
To improve performance on hard snow without compromising weight, the Explo incorporates two layers of carbon. While this choice contributes to its carbon footprint, it is partially offset by the use of a locally sourced poplar core from the Bas-St-Laurent region of Quebec, as well as biobased topsheet and epoxy.
